Founded by Natalie Nicholls, a Learning Intervention Specialist, the PLECS Approach focuses on building a child’s foundations and to strengthen areas of the mind, brain and body that are impacting a child’s overall functioning.
A child’s success depends on solid foundations. From birth, our brain and body are growing in response to genes and the environment around us. Each new learning skill needs a strong foundation to develop.
Many children, through no fault of anyone, have incomplete or weak developmental areas, which affect their ability to either socially interact, regulate their emotions and learn new content effectively, resulting in gaps in their learning and development.
These challenges commonly arise and eventually result in diagnosis’s such as ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, APD etc.
The PLECS Approach is designed to build and strengthen connectivity using a three-fold approach: family, teacher and professionals to support the child’s mind, body and brain to get on the right track.
This approach has seen significant improvement in areas such as social communication, decrease in anxiety, dramatic increases in academics, attention, focus, concentration, organisation, motivation, memory, comprehension, reasoning and confidence.

'Finding PLECS and Nat has been a life changer for our eight year old son. He was having a massive struggle in school working at levels two to three years below his actual year and being in the program has shifted his ability to move forward in the most incredible way. It’s switching on his brain to make him calmer and more focussed but to also retain information. Add on to that going back over the basic fundamentals of learning, which he completely missed, is allowing him to learn more and more! As it’s a whole person approach we are all making changes as a family to support our kids so they feel calmer and more supported. It’s incredible. My 3 year old improved dramatically in a short period of time. Before that, many months of other therapies had limited improvement. This is a holistic program that facilitated our child’s language development as well as helping him with gross/fine motor development and sensory issues. It works with traditional education as well as supporting nutrition, sleep and emotional well-being.
